Soiree Etiquette

Event etiquette may be confusing and difficult to manage. With so many rules and how-tos attending a soiree can be overwhelming. The thing to remember with etiquette is that no one is perfect, not even the most well-behaved Southern Belle. K Girl has a few simple tips for the modest belle. Follow just one of these guides and you are sure to leave a lasting impression on your host.

Be sure to impress your hostess at your next party!
Be sure to impress your hostess at your next party!

First things first, never arrive more than 15 minutes early and no more than 30 minutes late to a celebration. More often than not the hostess will not ready on time. There will be that last-minute dip to make or that final bouquet to arrange. Give the gal a break and give her an extra minute or two to get herself ready and poised. However, don’t be rude by showing up after the 30 minute mark. The last thing you want to do is offend your host. Showing up 45 minutes late may be perceived as inconsiderate and uncouth. And as so many of you know perception is reality.

However, no matter what time you arrive if you have a token of kindness in hand you are sure to be forgiven. Flowers or wine are always fail proof ways to win over the heart of your hostess. For something a bit more novel try crafting a wreath for the front door or perhaps something you heard your host dreaming of. Remember there is never such a thing as an extravagant or too expensive gift. Give what makes your heart sing. If it brings you joy to give it then your hostess will surely be joyous to receive it.

Our final tip to being the perfect guest is to send your Thank-you card as soon as you get home. Make sure your hostess knows just how much you appreciated being invited to her soiree and how lovely she did in putting the party together. A Thank-you note is the perfect cherry on top. So no matter what else you did or didn’t do at the party you will surely be remembered with your heartfelt letter at the end.

While etiquette is an important tradition not to be lost when all is said and done the most important thing to remember is that you are who you are and if you don’t follow any of these tips that is okay. What matters is that you have a good time and you enjoy the company around you. When you smile the world will smile with you. So keep smiling at every party and maybe if you feel the mood, strike a note with one of these flawless party etiquette tips. Party like a K Girl.
