5 Ways to Make Your Clients Feel the Love

So you own a business. You want your clients to invest in your company, your BRAND. How do you let your clients know just how important they are to you? BE YOU! Sprinkle some extra love onto your clients by being yourself. How would you treat your best friend or family? Your clients are no different. Think of your brand as a community of really close friends. Here are 5 tips to really get the brand love train rolling!

Send handwritten notes

Today, in business, almost everyone has taken up the art of a handwritten Thank You. But how many make a lasting impression with a note from the heart simply to check in? Your clients want to know you care. They want to feel special. So send them notes simply to say ‘Hi.’ Let them know just how important they are to you and your business. After all, they are the reason you are in business.

Greet your clients with a hug

Okay, maybe this one is a bit hippie dippy BUT there aren’t too many people who don’t love or need a good hug. This is especially important if they are having a rough day. Not only will you boost their spirits, you will set the stage for the meeting. Plus, again, they will feel special. They will feel like part of your business family. So greet them with a warm hug. And when the meeting is over hug them again. Research has shown that a proper hug builds trust. Let this kind gesture be the last piece of your brand they remember.

Give them Swag

Who seriously doesn’t want to feel like a rock star? At each meeting give them a little token to take with them. At the first meeting it’s always good to give them a pen and paper and a folder packed with info about your business. Don’t forget to throw in something fun… Maybe a tote to carry their loot! Then at each meeting thereafter find something new. Keep track of what you give them so you don’t repeat the gifts; an ornament with your logo at Christmas, a water bottle during the summer. Keep it simple, keep it relevant and keep it promotional.

Send love through Referrals

People love to be bragged on. So talk up your clients. Let them know how awesome they are by sending customers their way. Now, know your clients! Some clients might prefer your relationship be left confidential. So know your business and know your clients.

Remember important dates

Know your clients like you know you or your business. Remember birthdays (of clients and businesses), launch dates, press releases… ANYTHING that they may be excited about. If a client or owner is under the weather send flowers and a card. Whatever the occasion, send a handwritten note or a gift. Whatever your heart and budget allow. A personal phone call is also a huge way to let them know that they are so important to you that you took time out of your day for them.

Hope these tips help y’all spread some love from the heart of your brand. Give these a try and let us know how it goes! We’d also love to hear what special things y’all do to let your clients know they’re important to you.

Spreading Love on Giving Tuesday

We live in a Give It To Me Now society. We want it and we want it now. But this is the season of giving and reflection. Today is Giving Tuesday. Its a humble reminder to give love to those who need a little extra loving. So what are you going to do? How are you going to spread love with your grace and charm?

A fan favorite is always to donate a penny or two to your favorite charity or non-profit. Maybe this year, don’t simply write a check or hit the pay button. Add a little meditation after you give your money love. Think of those you are donating to. Send them a little more than money. Send them a heap of love sent through the energy that connects us. For a great organization to donate to go to No Kid Hungry and help our team raise money to feed the bellies of little girls and boys in America.

If you’re looking for another favorite way to give, volunteer. Volunteer your time. This is often an act of giving that really humbles the heart in a deeply profound way. When you put yourself in the heart of it all you are forced to feel, see and hear things you may not normally experience on a day-to-day basis. Spread your love with a personal touch. Food Banks are great places to volunteer. They are always in need of help. Find one near you

But don’t forget about volunteering your services. What do you do for a living? Or what are you good at? Are you a photographer? Volunteer at a shelter taking adorable pics of the fur babies so the shelter can post the pics on their website or social media pages. Who doesn’t love giving adorable little fur balls a loving home?! Maybe your talents lie in your delicious cooking… Bake some yummies for all the volunteers that are helping out. They need nourishment to keep them doing amazingly selfless work. Get creative and lend a hand however you can.

At the end of the day Giving Tuesday is simply a day to remind us to love one another and to give humbly with grace and charm. Remember, it doesn’t matter how much you donate or what you do to give. What matters is that you open your heart and spread as much love as you possibly can. And maybe this year we can keep the Giving going… Those in need could use your love everyday. So give often and give with grace and charm. Happy Giving Tuesday, y’all.

In the comments below let us know how you gave this Giving Tuesday.

Prioritize Pleasure

I love the #TruthBomb from Danielle LaPorte, “prioritize pleasure.” Amen! Who doesn’t want to put pleasure at the top of their to do list? Um, yes please. What we often forget is that pleasure doesn’t always look the same. Sometimes it is in ordinary tasks, sometimes it is career driven, or maybe it is an activity that you can’t get enough of. This is meant to be something that allows joy and love to spill out of you and seep into every part of your life. So how can we add a little sprinkle of pleasure into every single day?

Figuring out what exactly it is that gives you pleasure and fills your life with abundance can be one of the hardest tasks. Usually it’s just a lot of trial and error. Get out there; open your horizons. Try kayaking, running, yoga, painting, a bubble bath, meditation, improv classes… The list goes on and on. You just have to open up your mind to all the possibilities and find the courage to try it all. Be daring.

There are also those pleasures that require you to really dig down deep and take stock in your life. Ask yourself, are you happy with the significant other you are spending your time with, are you in love with the career path you are on? If the answer is no then it is time to start making a plan to change that. If the answer is yes, you still need to make a plan to cultivate more joy from these parts of your life. Don’t settle for average. The average person will settle for enjoying the career that makes them happy but doesn’t fulfill them. The extraordinary person will always strive to better every aspect of their life. There is never a limit to the amount of pleasure one can take in or give out. Just remember that average and ordinary aren’t the same things. Average is the measurement of your pleasure, but ordinary is the place that your pleasure can live and grow.

How many of y’all have said, “Cleaning house brings me so much joy. It’s just so peaceful.” Said maybe two people ever. But there is some true wisdom in that statement. If you really dig deep down into the heart of “Prioritize Pleasure” you will find the ultimate truth bomb. It isn’t simply making time for the things that you love to take care of your soul… It is also about changing the way you take life in. You know you have to clean the house. Ugh. Let’s change that ugh into a WOOT! All you have to do is make it fun. Find the pleasure inside of the ordinary. Turn on your favorite playlist for the ultimate jam fest. Once you get a room cleaned light candles as a symbolic checkmark that the room is primed to let in love and happiness. Cleaning is just a means to get to a clean slate to let pleasure into your life. And getting to that clean slate is a celebration with music and dancing.

The key to prioritizing pleasure is to keep searching for those pleasures to enhance your life. J. Cole once said, “I always feel like it’s two key ingredients when it comes to following your dreams, making something happen that the average person deems difficult. If you truly believe it, that’s step one. Step two is, you know, the hard work that goes along with it.” Be audacious and bold. Challenge yourself to try new things and disrupt what is mediocre in your life to find the bliss within the ordinary. You are the keeper of your pleasure. Release your joy!

Be sure to leave us a comment about how you are prioritizing pleasure in your life. We can’t wait to hear from y’all!

5 Ways to Support Your Local Farmer

Check out what's new on the K Girl blog: Let's make a difference in your community by supporting your local Farmer. Here are 5 tips to support your local farmer.

October 12th is National Farmer’s Day. In 2012 the USDA conducted the Census of Agriculture and found that there were 3.2 million farmers in the U.S. That is a lot of farmers to celebrate! However, that is 3.1% fewer farmers than the last census in 2007. So, how can we help support our farmers and promote more farmers to help bring us delicious goodies like okra, peanuts, strawberries, eggs… Well, let’s just be real and admit that farmers give us everything we love in our lives, from food to clothes. We need our farmers. Here are 5 ways to support farming in the U.S.

Eat local, Buy Local

A big part of helping the “small business” farmers is to eat local. Yes, it is tons of fun to go to the local market and pick out yummy eats the farmers picked just before arriving. Or what about going straight to the farms for some “U Pick” fun! Yes, please! But you can also go to your local grocery store (big or small) and find local goods. With the Buy Local, Eat Local trending it is truly simple to find lots of local goods to help build your local economy and support your local farmers! Find a local market near you.

Urban Ag

You may not have heard about Urban AG. It’s an up and coming trend sweeping the nation. Urban AG allows people in urban areas to grow and sell produce. They can grow crops in their backyard or on rooftops. The selling of goods in these areas is crucial. In many urban settings they have what is called a food dessert. A food dessert is a place where there aren’t grocery stores that are easily accessible. So allowing urban and country farmers to sell goods in these locations is crucial to the livelihood of people in food desserts. Bringing more choices into these areas helps to promote healthy eating. To learn more about Urban AG and find ways to help promote it check out this link. USDA Urban AG

Expand Your Palet

Expanding your pallet may sound silly but it cultivates an exciting market for new farmer’s to enter into. If we create a market to excite new farmers to grow and raise yummy crops and animals we not only help our economy, we also help ourselves. It is so important to have a well balanced diet. That means mixing up the fruits, veggies and other foods we eat. So go to your local market and see what kinds of interesting foods you can find. Set a goal to try something new every month.

Eat Clean

Eating less processed foods eliminates the middleman. When we eat food directly from the farmer we put more money in his pocket, reduce pollution and help our local communities thrive. Not to mention this is great for our bodies. Our bodies weren’t meant to consume so many chemicals. Research has found that part of the reason we have new food allergies like gluten is because we are eating way too much of it. So join a CSA and find new ways to eat less processed foods. Make your own bread, soups, pasta…the list goes on and on. Click here to find a CSA in your community.

Involve Kids

What better way to inspire a nation of healthy eaters than to ‘Know Your Farmer Know Your Food.’ When you know where your food comes from you are much more likely to cook it, eat it and enjoy it. Involving your little ones is the perfect way to inspire generations of healthy eaters and farmers. Not to mention it is great for motivating you.

We hope this list of ways to support your local farmers inspired y’all to get out there and do your part. Nothing better than supporting your community and growing a healthier nation! Let us know in the comments how you support your local farmer.

Making Dreams Come True

Chasing your dreams is no easy fete. So often we are riddled with fear, doubt, insecurity… Y’all know the list can go on a mile long. So how do we let go of that big, long, scary list and turn our dreams into reality?
Probably the easiest part to chasing our dreams is making them. Letting inspiration flow over you and conjuring up how you want your life or maybe business to look. What you have to do once those inspirational juices start flowing is write it down! Go to the store find your self the cutest (or most badass) notebook you can find, go home, sit down with pen (make it permanent but don’t be afraid to scratch out and scribble more) in hand and write. Get those dreams out of your head and onto a tangible list you can hold and see.
Now it is time to start doing something about those awesome dreams you’ve thought up… Um, yeah, okay. Are you thinking, “Good one. Let me get right on that. After! I do the laundry, feed the kids, wash the dog, go to the store…” Okay, so that list you just created in your head, the one with all the things you need to do before you follow your dreams… Yeah, add that to your list that’s a mile long. Ain’t nobody got time for that list. Not when you’re building your empire of dreams. Instead forget about the list that is a mile long and focus on the list of dreams. Look at it every single day. Maybe add a few more details to that awesome dream of yours.
Now, eventually there will come a time when the stars align and the Universe says, “K Girl, it’s time to jump.” This is the time to take that list that is a mile long, build a giant bomb fire and burn that sucker till it’s crispy little bits of ash. You don’t need that list and you certainly don’t want that list. It’s dream-making time! So, get up and do. No, the DO part of chasing dreams is not easy but it’s what you have to do. You have to look at your book of dreams and DO IT. That is the only way to make them happen. Sorry there isn’t a magic pill to take or enchanted wand to wave. Chasing dreams, especially the big ones, requires action from YOU and no one else.
But guess what, you are an incredibly talented, beautiful K Girl that can 100% do this. We would love to know how this post is helping you chase those dreams or share some tips on how y’all are getting’ it done. Cheers to the chase, y’all!

Women Like to Talk BUT Silence Is Bliss

Women Like To Talk
Anyone else love to talk? Show of hands. Yeah, it is no secret that most women LOVE to talk. We talk about the sky, what’s trending, what we ate today, how we’re feeling, how someone else should feel… EVERYTHING! A lot of times we literally talk things to death. Especially with our male companions. We talk when we really need to shut up.
It has been sad that women talk 3x more than men. One study says “the average woman uses up 20,000 words in a day – 13,000 more than the average man.” That is a lot of chatter. But ladies, it’s not really your fault. Dr. Louann Brizendine (http://drlouann.ning.com/), author of The Female Brain, says that when a woman talks her brain releases chemicals that give her a high like a heroin addict. Um, that’s crazy talk! But it’s true. So, our secret is out, we do love hearing ourselves talk. #SorryNotSorry We can’t help it! Or can we?
What we can help is how much we talk to our counterparts. Dr. Brixendine found that the female brain has larger pockets for communication, emotion and social connections. While the male brain has large pockets for sex and aggression. That sounds about right. With this information about the way our brains are set up it makes sense that men tune us out. They simply don’t have the space in their brains to absorb all that we are spewing at them. They want to talk about sex and how pissed off they are.
Let’s say your man is having a really bad day. He is super pissed and wants to vent. He starts going on about what happened and then…. You interject. You ask him how that made him feel. Then you ask him what he could have done differently. His response will usually be, “Nothing. I did everything I could.” Good one. Women look at the world like a puzzle. We look for all the ways we can put the puzzle together until we find the right way. We have to figure it out until we get it right. Many men try it one way and if it doesn’t work they move on. But in our need to “talk it out” we have to give him all the different ways he could have gotten through the day or whatever it is he is pissed about. The thing is he doesn’t really care. He said what he needed to say and feels better. He’s ready to move on to more important matters like sex and food. So by the time you get half way through your “How to Make Life Better” speech he is already thinking about sex. You’ve lost him. But yet you keep talking.
So let’s stop talking and start listening more. We don’t have to solve everything. Sometimes there is nothing to solve. Sometimes all we can do is be a silent rock for him to lean on. Just because our brains are wired to have a need to communicate doesn’t mean we can’t find other ways of doing it. Silence can truly be bliss. Listen to what he is saying. If we use the social connection part of our brains we will find that we are very good at reading people. So listen and look for his cues. If he doesn’t specifically ask for your opinion he may not want it. He may just want to let a little bit of aggression out and then let the rest out with some steamy sex. Whatever it is he needs the only way to figure it out is to listen first then talk (or maybe not).
Lastly, there is that whole business about the chemicals that make us high when we chat. We can’t change chemistry but we can find other ways of getting high. Like exercise or shopping!
Will talking is oh so fabulous it isn’t the only way to communicate. So, let’s try some of those silent ways of expression. Like a kiss, holding hands, a wink, the list keeps going. Silence is bliss!
We’d love to know what ways you are trying to communicate these day. Drop us a line in the comments section!

Define Your Brand & Go Get It!

Define Your Brand & Go Get It!
When you build a personal brand you are fully embracing your genuine self. So why do you keep stuff in your life that contradict the brand of YOU? Sometimes you have to take that leap of faith and chase the dream you want. Even if that means being a little lost and confused along the way. Just remember that you are awesome. So live it!
So, what is a personal brand? A personal brand is you and all of your divine glory. It is your dreams, your inspirations, your goals and your powerful knowledge. It’s YOU! To truly capture the brand you want to put out to the world start with a list. Write it down and define it for yourself. Here is a little sample of what that might look like.
You are the brand. Who are you & what do you want?
You are the brand. Who are you & what do you want?
Now that you have a list of what the genuine you looks like it’s time to define that in a deeper way. What do you need to do to embrace this brand? Where do you need to volunteer, work or live? Look at every aspect of your life and figure are if you are living a life that inspires your brand. If it’s not then it is time to make a change.
Now, you have a choice. You can be the cautious brander and slowly make your way to Awesome Town or you can jump feet first and grab the life you want. Either way is perfectly okay. You have to do what is right for you. That is the whole point of building your brand. It’s all about what makes you happy. If you are going to take the little by little approach prioritize your list. Start with what is the most important piece for you. Then put them in order from easiest to hardest. Remember you are prioritizing everything. You have the list of what defines you and your sub lists. Prioritize each of these lists. Got your list? Now start with an easy one and make something happen! Then keep going.
Now, if you are more of a jump feet first kind of gal then do something big and drastic. Throw caution to the wind and take a risk. You may break some rules and jump without knowing where you will land but that is okay. Some of the most beautiful things in life are unplanned. Whatever you decide to do it’s all good as long as it pushes you to be happier and find your inspiration.
It may be cliché to say but life truly is too short to be wasted away. You are a divine women. Your life should match your soul. You got this!
